Innovative Purchasing is function within Group Trucks Purchasing (GTP). Our responsibilities lie in scouting innovation, new technologies and new organizational developments but also to drive and be responsible for the sustainable purchasing program of the Volvo Group.
In the last few years, Sustainability has rapidly grown in importance, also in the Volvo Group. We are on an exciting journey where we are embracing the power of Sustainability in terms of selecting the right business partners, fostering positive brand awareness and developing a competitive advantage by attracting investors, customers and employees!
The mission of the Sustainability function of GTP is to be the:
Interpreter – ensuring awareness of best practices and tools and their implementation
Shock absorber – interpreting complex sustainability issues and contextualising them
Force multiplier – engaging with our Volvo group colleagues, to enable that we succeed in the Purchasing and Volvo Group Sustainability goals
See-er – understanding the medium and long-term sustainability trends and risks and how these impact the organisation
Conscience – we are the conscience of GTP! Asking questions where needed, challenging practices and ensuring that GTP continues to have a progressive Sustainability agenda.
As Sustainability Manager within GTP, you will be part of a team driving the Sustainability mission and agenda for Volvo Group Purchasing. We are looking for a person that by understanding our company’s and GTP's business model has the ability to identify opportunities and risks from a Sustainability perspective. You will have the possibility to be part of a strong team where you in parallel can develop your personal profile. For us Sustainability means balancing People – Planet – Profit and this role will be a generalist role supporting all aspects of Sustainability.
In specific, you will:
  • Actively contribute and take part in the buildup, implementation and roll-out of the Sustainable Purchasing Program of GTP through various projects
  • Act as a true change agent in terms of supporting GTP in driving the Sustainability agenda – your enthusiasm and passion will be key to success
  • Absorb and consolidate Sustainability business intelligence and translate it into GTP value.
  • Work, collaborate and stay connected with other Sustainability functions and teams within the Group as well as with other external Sustainability contacts
  • Secure that the sustainable purchasing programs is included and well represented in the overall purchasing processes
  • Be able to switch between strategic and operational tasks such as hands on analysis, collection of data, supplier contacts etc
You have a relevant education, experience and background for this position, preferably from the automotive sector and working with supply chains. You get energy from motivating and engaging with people and you feel comfortable in interacting and networking on various different levels both vertically and horizontally. This applies both inside the Volvo Group as well as externally. You understand that Sustainability is all about passion and that you have to live the mission in order to create engagement!
You are eager to learn and your project management skills are excellent. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where one day does not look the same as the other. You are a self-manager and you are able to execute with strong confidence, but you also enjoy working in a team where speed and agility but also fun and laughter go hand in hand. You also have excellent language and communication skills and you are fluent in English both in written and spoken engagements.
